Ahead of the Regulatory Horizon

Australia's financial sector is entering a period of significant regulatory change. The rollout of reformed AML/CTF legislation, increased AUSTRAC and ASIC enforcement activity, and growing pressure on institutions to demonstrate robust KYC and customer due diligence frameworks are reshaping how financial institutions operate and how they compete.

‍

At the same time, the scale and pace of these changes demand more than institutional compliance. Effective outcomes require genuine collaboration: between regulators, financial institutions, technology partners and government working together to design frameworks that protect customers, enable sustainable growth, and keep Australia competitive globally.

‍

This executive roundtable, hosted by Fenergo, in partnership with Enterprise Ireland and AWS, brings together a select group of senior leaders from across Australia's financial services sector to engage in a frank, high-quality discussion on the regulatory challenges ahead and the collaborative responses required.

‍

‍

In this session, we will:

• Examine the current state of AML/CTF reform and what it means for financial institutions in practice
• Discuss how government, regulators and private enterprise can better align to drive effective compliance outcomes
• Explore how technology and automation are reshaping KYC, client onboarding and ongoing compliance operations
• Share perspectives on balancing regulatory obligation with customer experience and economic growth
• Identify where collaboration between institutions, government and industry bodies is most needed and most absent
