Name: Laura Glynn
Position: Director of Global Regulatory Compliance
Describe your typical working day?
I manage the Regulatory Analysis Team and my team is responsible for researching emerging regulation as well as assessing the impacts of changes to existing regulations. This analysis includes creating briefing papers and whitepapers on key regulatory topics. We work closely with the wider Product Management Team, the various SMEs throughout the business and also directly with our clients, so the typical day changes daily.
What qualifications do you have/what is your previous work experience?
I have BSc. degree in Political Science and a post graduate diploma in Applied Finance Law. I previously worked in Alternative Investments, (hedge, mutual and private equity products) across multi-jurisdictional platforms, with a strong focus on AML and regulatory compliance for these regions. I also worked as a Risk Manager focusing on internal control, risk quantification and business continuity.
What is the best thing about your job?
The variety – no two days are the same. As the business scales, there is always something new and interesting to research and analyse. We attend a lot of industry events and there are a lot of networking opportunities with our clients, industry partners and regulatory bodies.
And the biggest challenge?
As the business continues to grow, we are covering an ever increasing amount of regulation in diversified locations, so there is often a lot of content to review.
What advice would you give someone considering applying for a job with Fenergo?
Join us! Submit an application and come in and speak to us. I have enjoyed every minute since joining. It is a fast paced environment and the company is growing at an impressive rate so there are plenty of opportunities (both in Ireland and globally) for talented and ambitious individuals. Despite the scale of growth, Fenergo has retained a smaller company environment, everyone is very friendly and approachable. There is a strong “work/life” balance promoted and there are a number of social events organised throughout the year.
